Custom Radio Commands

So anyways, a lot of people have asked me how I do my custom radio calls such as “I need a fix!” whenever I call for a medic or “Thanks for the injections doc” whenever I thank someone. So I thought I would post the link to the default Urban Terror instructions on how to do so, as well as some of my own instructions and tips/help. So first I post my info. The first thing you’re going to want to do is open the console, this is accomplished by hitting the tilde, or ~, key. After you do that you will type
/bind “key” ut_radio “#” “#” “What you want to say.”
Do not include the quotation marks when typing into the console, they are only there to show you what words and options can vary. You should replace “key” with whatever key you wish to bind that saying to, for example F3 (I don’t recommend setting anything to F1, F2, F11, or F12 as these keys contain binds that are a lot harder to reset, on another note, for keys like space, enter, or any of the F key buttons you shouldn’t hit that button, but type in the name). Then you should replace the two numbers that correspond with whatever audio message you wish to display, I will post possible numbers in a little bit. Next, you should replace “what you want to say” with, well you guessed it, what ever it is you want to show up when you activate your new bind.
Here are a list of radio calls you could possibly want to bind: (There’s a lot, so this post will be long) (also I got the list of menu items from the official Urban Terror manual)

Also, I will include a list of things you can type in to show various things, like your location, your number of bullets and clips, or your health.

Variable Description

  • $crosshair: shows current location under crosshair
  • $location: shows current location on a level
  • $health: shows your current status
  • $weapon: shows the current weapon you are carry
  • $clips: shows number of clips remaining
  • $bullets: shows number of bullets in your current clip
  • $gameitem: used to represent the word flag in CTF
  • $leader: will tell you who is currently the leader

All menu item information was found using the UrT Manual, found the the main Urban Terror site. However I figured out how to apply the custom messages on my own.
Look forward to my next tutorial, how to add custom colors to your words (this may take a while as I haven’t even done this yet)
