An introductory guide from T-fun:
Ok let me 1st state that this is for players that haven’t established a playing style of their own. Someone relatively new to the game or someone that just hasn’t found that rhythm and or zone.
*Use Kevlar,
Your Not Fast enough or smart enough to play without it. (But, not using Kevlar gives you 50% more stamina.)
*Use SIlencer,
Keep the Muzzle Flash from Blocking your view untill you learn to shoot in short burst and its not the issue, the flash will actually help you remember to burst with auto
*Use Laser,
Like I said your aim is wack, use a laser help that spread out.
2nd Opinion by Caducus aka nbtd:Pro*
I disagree. If your aim is bad the laser will just make bullets go to your cursor in a tighter pattern. Now if you had good aim that would be a good thing, but you have bad aim so leave the laser off and let the spread help you.
(T-Fun Or just Use the M4 with Laser? If you agree with Cad drop the laser use a helmet!)
*DON’T USE A SECONDARY,
you will always pick one up in TDM or CTF in the 1st 5 seconds, waist of space, TS if your playing it, you shouldn’t need one anyways.
*Practice Jump maps,
will help you learn to move, and will surprise you how fast you will fly through a map after completing a good bit of a jump map, practice them weekly to keep your speed up. Ask St.Anger aka Cit aka Citrox, you don’t need to remove kevlar to move fast!
*Play with better players than yourself, Gammingtilt is a good server were skilled players go, get on their level, cause untill you do, your still below average!
*Adjust Your Sensitivity,
it defaults at 5, go down to 4, then 3.5, then eventually try to make it to at least 3, that is were I feel comfortable, although alot of good players choose to go under that. To adjust your sensitivity type /sensitivity (into console) then the number you wish to play with, example /sensitivity 3
*When facing multiple opponents,
try to use walls and surrounding to block all but 1 out, make it a 1v1 and work your way in.
*Try to keep any area thats not in your view covered by your surroundings, this is not always possible but good to keep in mind, someone can’t shoot you if they can’t see you.
Addition by CADUCUS aka nbtd:pro*
To expand, never stand in an area that is covered by more than 1 (2 max) entrance to that area. If this is impossible get one that you can hide near and aim near the other entrance, you will hear the enemy if he/she comes out the one close to you.
*LEARN THE MAPS!!!
This is very important, do not only learn the map, learn the typical routes players take, and flank them. Learn typical camp spots, and study your opponents and what they typically do.
I am not going to address weapons, they all can be equally effective when mastered.
